In San Jose Costa Rica

It seems that I have been here many times before to this very street in San Jose, but each time I am returning from or embarking upon a new journey.

This morning after a 1:30 am wake-up, ten students from Greens Farms Academy, their teacher and two leaders finished a 10 day journey. The journey consisted of the easy things to write and talk about: white water rafting, working in a small village, singing, dancing, making tamales and cheese, going to hot springs, flying over the rain forest on a zip line and jumping into various swimming holes, rivers and a particularly beautiful waterfall.

What is persistently difficult to write about are all of the incredible intangibles. Nine kids ranging from ages 14-17 learned to give their hearts to other people and cultures of the world. They formed an impenetrable bond with each other and the families and children of Chilamate. They left on a plane this morning with a desire to return and to continue to maintain their relationship with their new families in Central America. Through this partnership they will begin to better the world little by little...

This is all very ¨full-circle¨ for me as I sit in an Internet cafe in San Jose waiting to hear from friends that I spent two months with when I was 15 years old. These experiences are ultimately invaluable and I am honored to have been a part of this particular group through the World Leadership School.

From here I will spend a few days on the beach before going to Matagalpa on July 4th.
